Best yoga on the North Shore 2026
The best yoga on the North Shore is Golden Yogi in Takapuna for breadth and Kundalini specialism, and Hot Yoga Takapuna for the no-frills heated practice. Redroom Takapuna sits alongside as the infrared pilates and contrast-therapy option, with Thermo Yin as the one yoga class on its timetable. Devonport, Milford and Albany each have one or two community studios worth knowing about, and the Birkenhead arm of Kanuka Yoga Space serves the lower Shore.
The North Shore field
Golden Yogi, Level 1, 46 Hurstmere Road, Takapuna
The North Shore’s standout for breadth. Kundalini Yoga (rare in Auckland), Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, Iyengar, Pregnancy Yoga, Kids Yoga and Meditation, plus a clinic offering naturopath and homeopathy consultations with advanced laboratory testing. The 3 classes for $40 intro offer is one of the most generous on the Shore. Reception opens 15 minutes before each class. Plenty of parking nearby at Anzac Carpark, Killarney Street Carpark and beachside parking. Entry is through the Parkway Arcade above Starbucks.
Redroom Wellness, Takapuna
The Takapuna outpost of the City Works Depot studio. Primarily an infrared pilates and HIIT studio (Thermo Tone, Sculpt, HIIT) with Thermo Yin as the one yoga offering, plus contrast therapy with sauna and ice bath. Same infrared-heated rooms, same Thermo class names. The Newcomer Pass is five classes for $85 over two weeks. Premium pricing, premium feel.
Hot Yoga Takapuna
A long-running independent hot yoga studio. The room is properly hot, the teachers are experienced, the pricing is sensible. Less polished than Redroom, more focused on the practice itself.
Flourish Yoga, Takapuna
A smaller boutique studio with a focus on Vinyasa, Yin and women’s classes. Good for people who want a quieter alternative to Golden Yogi’s busy schedule.
Kanuka Yoga Space, Birkenhead classes
Kanuka’s main studio is in West Harbour but they run a Birkenhead schedule too, with Vinyasa, Hatha and trauma-sensitive options. Useful for anyone on the lower Shore who wants Kanuka’s particular accessibility ethos without the drive to Hobsonville.
Kia Kaha Yoga, Devonport
A village studio with the small-community feel that Devonport does well. Slow flow, gentle yoga and meditation. Worth knowing about if you live north of the bridge and want a local rather than a destination.
Slöwe Studio, Belmont
A movement and sauna studio that runs yin and slow flow classes alongside Finnish-style sauna sessions. The yoga-then-sauna combo is genuinely lovely on a winter evening.
North Shore practicalities
Parking. Almost universally free or very cheap on the Shore. Hurstmere Road has metered parking. Takapuna Beach carpark is free. Devonport has paid parking in the village.
Bridge timing. Off-peak the harbour bridge takes ten to twelve minutes. Avoid the 7:30 to 9 am and 4 to 6:30 pm windows.
What I would tell a friend
If you live in Takapuna and want one studio that covers everything, Golden Yogi. If you want polished boutique infrared, Redroom Takapuna. If you want quietly excellent design-led yoga and you do not mind crossing the bridge, Kenkō.
